Steve Laird Provides Legal Ethics, Professional Responsibility Insights During Annual ABOTA International Trip

FORT WORTH, Texas — Acclaimed trial lawyer, Steven C. Laird, co-founder of the Law Offices of Laird & McCloskey, was selected to deliver the only legal presentation during the March 2026 international trip to Japan of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA.)

The program, “Ethics and Lawyer Advertising in the United States: Past, Present, and Future,” focused on the evolution of professional responsibility standards and the growing complexity of attorney advertising in an increasingly digital environment. It was the only presentation focused specifically on legal ethics and professional responsibility.

ABOTA’s annual international trip is designed to allow members the opportunity to explore foreign legal systems, engage in cultural exchange and foster global relationships.

Mr. Laird was selected as a presenter based on his long-standing leadership on ethics, trial advocacy, and litigation topics. He previously served on the Texas Supreme Court’s Professional Ethics Committee and chaired the State Bar of Texas Advertising Review Committee, where he helped shape guidance on attorney advertising and referral practices.
